- Contemporary non-fiction filmmakers employ increasingly sophisticated – and at times problematic – strategies in creating narrative. Where is the line? Does it matter? We’ve asked several filmmakers with very different approaches to speak about specific scenes in their work. How did they construct these scenes? What questions did they ask themselves? Did they manipulate real events in a way that distorted the “facticity” of the scene? Do they care?
